All of us are going through several transformations in our lives. Some transformations can happen in an instant; some take days, weeks, years, or even decades! Many of these changes in our lives are challenging. They can often feel heavy and hard before that new life road gets smoothed out. At times, these big life changes may not look like they make sense. It’s like driving on a new route that deep down inside you know is right but visually looks very unfamiliar. This can bring on HUGE discomfort. We may question ourselves. We may put our growth transformation on pause for a moment. There may be times we seek the help of those around us or professionals to help support or guide us along. All of this is okay! If we think about the root meaning of transforming, it means to change form. “Changing form” seems like a potentially messy process, right? There is no “one-size-fits-all” or “right” way to go through a life change! I also want to remind us all that it doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else either. We get to transform in our own way!
I’m sure we have all heard at some point: “you’ve changed!” In the true nature of life, growth, and transformation, isn’t that the point? Change, growth, and transformation are not bad things! It is also not our job to help someone else feel comfortable with the growth we have made. It’s our job to comfort ourselves on the journey of growth we are on. It’s our job to be our own top priority! We do this by caring for ourselves daily with sleep, water, exercise, a healthy diet, self-care, and emotional support through personal and often professional relationships. We can also support ourselves with mindset. As mentioned, growth and transformation can be messy processes. There are many ups and downs along the way. Our mindsets can play a huge role in those ups and downs. We need to do our best to remind ourselves that the downs are temporary—that the growth and strides we are making are going to create positive growth and change for us. It’s also equally important to celebrate our ups! Recognizing how far we’ve come, the hardship we might have endured, and the strengths we have gained can be a beautiful way to honor our experience!
In the end, we get to do our lives our way. This means that all the growth and transformation along the way doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else but us. My encouragement is that we allow for more of this authenticity in our lives in all areas. That we allow ourselves to honor our experiences, trust our intuition, and live our lives as our beautiful, transforming, authentic selves!
